Recycle-Pak is pleased to announce a new working partnership with Recycling Lives, which will enable us to offer WEEE Compliance for our members going forward.

What is WEEE?

WEEE stands for ‘waste electronic and electrical equipment’.

WEEE Regulations

The Waste Electric and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations 2013 became law in the UK on the 1st of January 2014 and replaced the 2006 Regulations. The WEEE Regulations were implemented to ensure that any waste electronic equipment is recycled properly as opposed to being taken to landfill. Under the regulations, manufacturers of electronic or electrical products are obligated to fund the collection and recycling of their products when they reach the end of their life.

WEEE includes most products that have a plug or need a battery and is classed as either household or non-household WEEE. For more information on WEEE, please visit the following HSE government site -

Who Are Recycling Lives?

Recycling Lives is a double Queen’s Award-winning recycling and waste management business which has evolved into a leader in a range of recycling and waste management solutions. Its successful commercial services help to sustain the Recycling Lives charity, which is concerned with food redistribution, offender rehabilitation and tackling homelessness. For the former, it manages the redistribution of surplus food to go to groups and individuals facing food poverty. For the latter, it offers training, employment and accommodation opportunities to allow marginalised individuals to regain their independence, thereby significantly reducing reoffending rates.

Recycling Lives Compliance Servicescomprises a team of experts in Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment recycling (WEEE). Recycle-Pak will be working closely with this team at Recycling Lives. They will be able to provide all the necessary information and make sure that our members are fully compliant.

Do you have a WEEE obligation?

If you are a business that placed electrical or electronic equipment onto the UK market last year, then you may have an obligation to register under the UK Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations.

What to do next.

If you think you may be obligated by these regulations, please contact Recycle-Pak.
